A dedicated artist, curator, and vinyl enthusiast, Trixie has built a reputation for blending deep, emotive sounds with a strong sense of musical storytelling. Trixie has a vast sonic palette & her sets explore the intersections of house, breakbeats, techno, acid, electro, all the way to the dub and ambient side of electronic music.
Refusing to be confined to a single genre, she consistently pushes the boundaries with obscure textures, unexpected instrumentation, and a deep appreciation for the human voice.
As a resident DJ at Silverlinings' Neotropiq and Ewan Alexander's MUI MUI, she has also made her mark with multiple appearances at fabric—including their 24th birthday—along with consecutive sets at Gottwood, and performances at Pickle Factory, Lion & Lamb, The Cause, and many more. With a growing list of standout gigs, she’s earning the recognition she rightfully deserves.
Her productions continue to go from strength to strength, with releases on esteemed labels like Dream Dancing Records and Neotropiq. She has also made a double submission to Serenity Records, one solo track and a collaboration with Thoma Bulwer and Connor Male.
Beyond her musical contributions as a solo artist, she is also a manager and co-curator at Wax Material Record Store, where she plays as one half of 2badb’s with shop owner Jessi.
With that being said, let's get into the conversation with Trixie...
Q: We can’t wait to have you at Waveflow on the 6th of April! How did you first come across the project?
A: I can’t wait to join you! I’ve been a fan of The Goose and have played and shared many beautiful memories on the boat, so when I saw that Alejandro posted about Waveflow I thought it was a superb idea!
Q: The intersection of music and wellbeing is something we’re passionate about. How do you think nightlife culture can evolve to better support mindfulness and self-care?
A: People often assume that electronic music and substances go hand in hand on the dance floor. Unfortunately, this can lead some to avoid dance music altogether or miss out on the experience of a sober event—especially within our unique underground scene. It’s amazing to see more events and festivals embracing this approach, with Lovejam Festival being a major eye-opener for me into this conscious way approaching how we party!
Q: Our events provide a safe, substance-free space for those who want to experience their favourite artists in a more mindful and present way. In your view, what’s the most valuable aspect of creating spaces like this?
A: I think it can be enjoyed more consciously by absolutely everybody and that it’s not detrimental to our mental or physical well-being. We have all been there when someone has had a little too much or isn’t aware of what they are doing or saying, a substance free space eliminates a lot of that!
Q: Wellness and club culture aren’t always seen as going hand in hand. What’s your perspective on how the underground scene is shifting in relation to mindfulness and more intentional socialising?
A: I don’t think this perspective will remain the same. The younger generation doesn’t seem as interested in alcohol or getting high as ours was. Like anything, it’s about balance, so having options is important. After the pandemic, I really noticed a shift—people started recognising the need for alternatives.
Q: What does balance look like for you when managing personal life, creativity, and the demands of the industry?
A: For me, rest, yoga, and meditation have been essential for staying semi-sane! I am a regular at Om Being studio where they infuse hifi sound and dj’s with every class they offer, it’s changed my life. A good diet and regular time in nature also help spark creativity. I’m also an absolute freak for a cold plunge, can’t get enough. It’s a wild job when you really think about it, so staying grounded as much as possible and keeping your dopamine levels steady is key to keeping things balanced.
Q: What are you most looking forward to about this event and the sober setting?
A: The Goose has always been one of my favourite places to dance and play and Vera is one of my favourite selectors so I’m excited to experience it all in a fresh, sober way!!
Q: At Waveflow, we’re always on the lookout for new drink options to add to our alcohol-free bar. What’s your go-to drink order for a mindful session?
A: I love juices, and smoothies & Fresh fruit and fruit infused water! Oh and fresh coconuts.
